William Aiken House Wedding by Mingle + Hyer Images

A vibrant magenta and orange color palette set the stage for Jennifer + Rizwan's stunning William Aiken House wedding in Charleston, South Carolina last July.  Bride Jennifer donned a dazzling strapless gown, sparkly pink Kate Spade heels and a bouquet by Wildflowers Inc. that is so gorgeous it needs to be on the cover of a magazine.  Her bridesmaids rocked amazing saris in shades of magenta and purple with gold accents, while accessorizing with gorgeous white bouquets.   For the ceremony, Rizwan wore a traditional sherwani while his lively groomsmen wore grey suits and magenta ties.  The couple said 'I do' outdoors on the lawn of the William Aiken House before celebrating the night away with their guests.  The team at Mingle created a beautiful evening full of pin-able details.  Fish served up their signature cuisine and even incorporated a handful of Indian dishes to give a nod to the Groom's family's heritage.   From the lovely silver linens and lanterns that illuminated the night, to the candelabras overflowing with vivid blooms, Two 3 Ways keeping guests up and out of their chairs, and elegant cake by Gala Desserts, we can't get enough of this exquisite Charleston wedding!  Thanks to Hyer Images for capturing all the details. Folly Beach Wedding by Party.Love.Birds + Erin McGinn Photography

Last year, you may remember we featured Becca + Jay's Folly Beach wedding at the Pink Flamingo Beach House in our inaugural issue of A Lowcountry Wedding Magazine.  It was amazing and the perfect location for anyone looking for a low-key beach affair, so I was super excited when Jenn + Brian's coastal bash made it's way to my inbox.  This sweet couple also selected the Pink Flamingo to host their Lowcountry soiree and, with the help of the team at Party. Love. Birds, they created an effortless ocean side backdrop for their beautiful wedding day.  My favorite details - the dessert bar from Wildflour Pastry, the succulent centerpieces and the outdoor lighting that made for the perfect evening under the stars! Preppy William Aiken House Wedding by shannon michele photography

Shannon Michele Photography can do no wrong in my eyes, especially when she’s paired up with a dream team of Charleston wedding vendors like Sara York Grimshaw, Technical Event Company and the design masterminds over at WED.  It’s like a match made in my personal Lowcountry heaven.  Beth + Greg’s William Aiken House wedding was the preppy Southern bash that all Lowcountry brides dream of.  Effortless, tasteful, timeless…complete perfection!  I mean, come on, bridesmaids dressed in seersucker,  an adorable ring bearer, swoon-worthy florals and one seriously gorgeous bride.  You can’t beat it. I spent the weekend Bachelorette-ing it up in Atlanta and decide that taking a little blogger break on Monday was a necessity!  So, sorry for the unexpected delay, but I promise to make it to you this week with some dreamy Lowcountry wedding inspiration!  We're kicking off this 90-degree, spring week with a gorgeous rustic Pepper Plantation wedding captured by CM Photography and designed by Sweet Grass Events.  I'm digging the romantic midnight blue color palette, Bride Simone's stunning lace gown and the touching shots of the Father of the Bride seeing his sweet daughter for the first time. These bouts are made for walkin’...down the aisle! {Boutonnieres}

Attention, class! Let’s start the day off with a history lesson. Whether it’s a Hawaiian lei, a Greek Orthodox flower crown, or classic boutonnieres, men throughout the world sport flowers on their wedding day to promote fertility and chivalry, and to ward off evil spirits. So where did this custom come from? In the Middle Ages, a knight entering battle would often bear a token from his lady close to his heart. Today, contemporary grooms have adapted the age-old tradition and don a flower from the bride’s bouquet on the left lapel of their suit. From an elegant and simple rosebud to a sweet and rustic succulent, there are a variety of options for your very own knight in shining armor!

Alhambra Hall Wedding by Sally Watts Photography

You know we love us some Sally Watts Photography over here at ALW.  I'm pretty sure she could snap a picture of my old, dirty tennis shoes and make it frame-worthy!  Her timeless approach to photography makes her an obvious addition to any bride planning a Charleston wedding, something that Bride Anna knows oh-so-well.  Sally captured Anna + Chad's gorgeous Alhambra Hall wedding just over the bridge in Mount Pleasant and we're in LOVE with the dreamy portraits she captured on that crisp December day. Old Wide Awake Plantation Wedding by Sea Star Arts Photography

A few weeks ago, we shared Hillary + Phil’s Charleston engagement session from our lovely friend and A Lowcountry Wedding Vendor, Sea Star Arts Photography.  We were in love with the gorgeous scenery, romantic photography and adorable couple, so needless to say, we jumped for joy when we laid eyes on their wonderful Old Wide Awake Plantation wedding!  Bride Hillary is a DIY Bride’s best friend.  From the signage to the flowers and even the tables, her creativity oozes from every ounce of their charming Charleston affair.   To top things off, the fabulous crew from Coastal Crust joined the party to spoil everyone with their mouthwatering cuisine! Legare Waring House Wedding by Amy Prikazsky Photography

A little over a year ago, we shared Katie + TJ's sweet Downtown Charleston Engagement session captured by the talented Amy Prikazsky Photography.  These two make for a seriously adorable couple, so, of course I was thrilled when Katie recently sent over their gorgeous Legare Waring House wedding.  The couple had a lively Lowcountry celebration under the beautiful Avenue of Oaks where, once again, Amy Prikazsky joined them to capture all the details. Charleston Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings

Tell us a little bit about how you met your husband…

I met my husband through a mutual friend in college. We all laugh about how he called me a “cutie patootie” after our initial meeting. He said he remembers everything about that moment, how my hair looked, what dress I had on and most of all my smile. I love hearing him tell the story !

Charleston Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings, Hilton Head WeddingsCharleston Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings

Charleston Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings

How did he propose?

His proposal was nothing short of hilarious, just like him!  On Friday, May 11, 2012 I was asleep in my bed when I awoke suddenly to TJ falling on top of me with a golf club in hand. After he explained that he wasn't trying to kill me, I noticed a collage of pictures on the ceiling with a message that said "will you marry me". He thought he could reach the ceiling on his own, but he had to bring a ladder in the room to get up there. He still wasn’t quite tall enough, so he grabbed a golf club in order to smooth out the poster collage. In the final moment, he lost his balance and fell on top of me. His hope was that I would wake up the next morning and see the collage, but that obviously did not go as planned. Since I was already awake, he flipped on the lights and proposed right there in bed. The collage he hung using the golf club is still on the ceiling (mostly because of the industrial strength adhesive he used to hang it) but more so because I like to wake up every morning to see all of our happy memoirs together. We were engaged for 14 months before the wedding.

What made you choose your venue?

I decided on the Legare Waring House because of the overall look and feel. I was looking for an outdoor venue, specifically a plantation, where I could have both the ceremony and reception. Being able to utilize the house really sold me. I loved how we had an indoor space to get ready and considering the wedding was in July, it provided a nice space to cool down during the reception. The Avenue of Oaks provided the perfect backdrop for our ceremony.

How many guests attended: 175

Color Palette: We used neutral linens and natural wood color chairs. The flowers were whites, pinks and greens. Our bridal party provided a splash of color. The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo dresses in grapefruit, and the groomsmen wore grey suits with coral, blue and white striped ties.

Charleston Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings, Hilton Head WeddingsCharleston Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings

Out of the entire day, what was the most memorable moment?

The most memorable moment had to be the ceremony. My husband showed real emotion when he said his vows, and I will treasure that forever.

Tell us all about the details!  Did any have special meaning?

I wanted to use neutral flowers and linens to play off of the natural feeling of Legare Waring House. Green is my favorite color, so lots of the details incorporated this color. I wanted the bridal party to be my pop of color, which is why I chose coral dresses and bowties.

What’s your favorite picture from your big day?

I would have to say my favorite picture is the shot of the wedding party under the Avenue of Oaks. We decided to have the girls hold parasols, and I love the way those pictures turned out.

Tell us a little bit about your menu…

We knew our guests were traveling from near and far, so we provided a variety of options. We had various stations set up including a carving station, mashed potato bar and shrimp and grits. We also had crab dip, teriyaki chicken, apricot and pecan brie and a variety of other dishes.

Most valuable piece of advice you’d give to a newly engaged bride:

Give yourself plenty of time to plan!! Wedding planning is a process, and you don’t want to rush things. Also, don’t spend too much of your budget in the beginning. There will be lots of surprised/unplanned costs in the final two months before the wedding.

Wedding Elopement at Magnolia Plantation by Whimsey Photography by Cana

I love when our photographers share a little insight about the sweet couples that we're blessed to share here on A Lowcountry Wedding.  I always like hearing about their love and it's so fun to experience it through those who are able to capture it in person.  The talented Whimsey Photography by Cana was blessed to hang out with the adorable Sharon + Tom at Magnolia Plantation for their truly beautiful Charleston wedding elopement.  Thanks to Cana for sharing all the details... Charleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings

" Sharon and Tom met in college, where Tom took a fancy to her pretty quickly. Sharon, on the other hand, was uninterested, thinking Tom was just another frat boy. Soon after giving in to hanging out with him one day, her heart began to melt and soften towards Tom, realizing he was a very humble soul who made her laugh and giggle (which is very important, ladies!). The two began dating and decided to get married just before Tom left for Afghanistan for a year. When he got back, they decided to experience the whole newlywed adventure – they went on their long-awaited honeymoon, and decided to get their wedding portraits taken, which they traveled to Charleston for. What an honor it was to take photos for this beautiful couple! Thank you, Sharon and Tom, for choosing me to capture the beauty of your marriage! And a special thank you to Tom for his service. What a sacrifice this couple has made to be together. That is true love, my friends."

Clemson-Themed Cooper River Room Wedding by Richard Bell Photography

Bride Lauren and her Groom Micah are huge Clemson fans, so when the began planning their beautiful Cooper River Room wedding, they knew incorporating their favorite team's colors were a must.   The bridesmaids wore vibrant purple dresses that perfectly matched the pocket squares and ties the guys donned.  Orange lilies and roses were paired with purple hydrangeas to finish off the cheery look.  Lauren wore a GORGEOUS gown with capped sleeves and a full, ruffled skirt.  Thanks to the wonderful crew at Richard Bell Photography for capturing all the details of this beautiful Charleston wedding! Charleston Weddings, Hilton head Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings

From The Bride: "We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of all things that are important to us: family, friends, faith, food, fall, and football. We prefer simple and natural decorations and we tried to incorporate as many sustainable elements as possible. Even our wedding invitations can be planted and grown into wild flowers. We are big proponents of local businesses so everything from our food to our cake to our favors were all from local businesses. Our wedding colors are orange and purple. They remind us of our favorite time of the year- Fall and of our favorite football team- Clemson!"

Haig Point Lighthouse Wedding by Once Like A Spark Photography

I'll just say it.   I'm flat out obsessed with this adorable Haig Point Lighthouse wedding from {Once Like A Spark} Photography.  I'm talking head-over-heels, can't-get-enough-of-it, I-wanna-pin-each-and-every-image in L.O.V.E.    Bride Cali and her man Robert are nothing short of adorable and the sweet twosome were smiling from ear-to-ear all day long.  The couple selected one of our favorite Lowcountry wedding locales, the enchanting Daufuskie Island, to host their lively bash with some of our favorite Southern vendors.  The talented Tori Burgio of Every Thine Vintage was the stylish lady at the wheel, while Gertie Mae's Floral Studio created eye-catching arrangements and that stunning bouquet. Vibrant Orfila Winery Wedding in California by Arina B Photography

The minute I laid my eyes on Britany + Kevin's Orfila Winery wedding I was immediately sucked in by the gorgeous centerpieces Third Bloom created.  Who doesn't love vibrant purples and orange!  Bride Britany was stunning in a strapless gown while her bridesmaids wore long, flow-y coral dresses.  All of the sweet ladies wore their hair down in soft curls.  The adorable couple said 'I do' in a touching outdoor ceremony with the mountains in background before joining their guests for an evening of celebration in a lovely tented reception.  Thanks to Arina B Photography for capturing all the perfect details! Magnolia Plantation Wedding by Riverland Studios and Duvall Events

A gorgeous Sarah Seven gown, hints of baby's breath and sweet Southern details make for a laid back (and gorgeous!) Magnolia Plantation wedding from our friends at Riverland Studios.  With the help of Duvall Events, Rachele & Michael were married in a magical outdoor ceremony under the magnificent oak trees on the carriage house lawn. The bride chose a color palette of cream with turquoise accents, which was the perfect compliment to this romantic summer wedding. We love the elegant and chic decor placed against the rustic outdoor setting. The newlyweds celebrated their reception inside, which exuded an equal amount of sweet Lowcountry charm- complete with Spanish moss and mason jar chandeliers, twinkling strings of lights, and an assortment of vintage chinaware. Rustic Hyde Park Polo Club Wedding by Stefanie Kapra Photography

We hope everyone had a lovely weekend!  We're so excited to share this beautiful Hyde Park Polo Club Wedding from Stefanie Kapra Photography because we're quite certain you'll be enchanted by this rustic beauty!  Erin and Paul had planned an intimate wedding in their backyard - by the river. The house they live in has been in their family for generations and therefore felt like the perfect location for their wedding. Erin even planted all her own wedding flowers the year before the wedding - so she could have fresh flowers from the yard for the bouquet and decor.  And then the rain and water came and the river flooded their entire yard and street - so they even had to evacuate the house for a little while. The water stayed for weeks - turning their yard into a swamp - making it impossible for the wedding celebrations to take place there Charleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach WeddingsCharleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach WeddingsCharleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach WeddingsCharleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach WeddingsCharleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach WeddingsCharleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings

At first, Erin and Paul were devastated. But they felt that the only thing that really mattered was that they would say yes to each other and celebrate their love with their loved ones. So instead of giving up, they kept looking for an alternative and kept their positive spirit alive - and in the end they were rewarded and found a hidden little gem to celebrate their wedding at: Hyde Park Farm & Polo Club. It is not a classical wedding venue per se - but it offers a lot of rustic charm and the necessary room/amenities - all while offering a back yard feel.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by chickens and horses - which immediately created a cozy atmosphere. Erin and Paul set up their ceremony side by a little pond underneath an old life oak tree. A wooden pavilion was used for the reception and the caterer set up the buffet in the old barn. Here and there, one of the horses would get curious and peek over the fence - completing the rustic and intimate feel. For decor, Erin and Paul used oil lamps from Erin's grandma and other relatives - they fit in very nicely with the entire look/feel. To round it all up, fans made from sweet grass as well as local honey was given to the guests as favors to take home.
