You probably remember Sally Katherine's romantic Edisto Island portraits she captured. Holy City Engagement Session from Sea Star Arts Photography
You may remember last week when we featured a charming styled shoot from Carly is Inspired + Sea Star Arts Photography, and if I had to guess, you probably fell head-over-heels in love with it just like everyone else. Not only were the design + vintage decor spot-on, but the photography was perfection and I have a feeling that you'd love to see more of the same. Am I right? Well, today, you're in luck, because were serving up another beauty from the Sea Star Arts Photography. In a few short months, the adorable Sarah + Brent will be having a gorgeous Southern wedding of their own and we're so glad we get to share their precious engagement session. Charleston Engagement {Amanda + Andrew} Priscilla Thomas Photography
Last summer we teamed up with our friend and fellow ALW Vendor, the talented Priscilla Thomas Photography to offer one lucky couple an 8 hour wedding day photography package for FREE! Could you imagine winning a photography package from an amazing Charleston wedding photographer like Priscilla? It makes me envious, that's all I'm saying! Well Amanda and Andrew were the winning duo and today we get to share their Lowcountry engagement session. Congrats to the lucky couple, we can't wait to see their Boone Hall Plantation bash!
Tell us a little bit about yourselves!
Amanda - I'm a pharmacist and I live in Asheville, NC and am really enjoying taking advantage of all the NC mountains offers including hiking, biking, the Biltmore Estate, and the great local brewery scene.
Andrew - Lives in Panama City Beach, FL currently. He is a photojournalist at the Panama City News Herald and also really enjoys videography/documentary work. Andrew also enjoys building websites in his free time and building things.
We both enjoy traveling and sailing together too!
How did the two of you meet?
We met in high school when I was a junior and Andrew was a senior. After being introduced, Andrew asked me on our first date to Elmo's Diner in Durham, NC and the rest is history!
How would you describe yourselves?
Amanda - Friends would say I am fun-loving, caring, loyal and dedicated. Andrew would add that I'm detail oriented almost to a fault, which I blame on my science background. ;)
Andrew is definitely more of the free-spirited one, as he is more spontaneous, creative, and just plain goofy. We definitely balance each other out.
Tell us ALL about the proposal. We love a great story!
I had December off from pharmacy school so I was spending the majority of it down in Florida with Andrew. We traveled to NC to spend Christmas with my family and to visit his family too. While we were at my parents house Andrew asked my parents for permission to marry me. And while visiting his family, he picked up his grandmother's beautiful engagement ring. When we got back down to FL, we went to our usual Sunday brunch spot and afterward Andrew proposed. Although I knew is was coming eventually, I did not think he would propose until after I was finished with graduate school so I was completely surprised, which my friends will tell you is hard to do.
What do you envision for your wedding day? (Colors, theme, unique features to make it your own)We envision our wedding day being romantic and vintage. The Cotton Dock at Boone Hall is right on the water, which is important to us. We plan on decorating with white drapery and lots of candles to warm up the mostly wooden space. We're not entirely sure on colors yet, but will probably end up leaning towards some shade of blue as the main color.
What attire style fits your wedding? (black tie, Charleston casual, suit & tie, a day at the beach)
Definitely Charleston casual. The men will most likely wear gingham shirts with vests and my dress is very light and flowing.

I’m a member of the Charleston Hospitality Social Media Group and at our last meeting at Charleston Place I met the lovely Jennifer! Fast forward a few weeks later and, thanks to Dana Cubbage Photography, I find her lovely Lowcountry engagement session in my inbox! While scrolling through the images I immediately realize that these frame-worthy images needed to be shared. Prepping for your engagement session is always exciting but can be slightly stressful. You’ll be displaying these beauties throughout your home for years to come, so choosing classic attire and adding your own personal flair is key, and that’s just what Jennifer and Tyler did. The adorable duo kicked things off in Downtown Charleston before bee lining over to Mount Pleasant to reveling in the beauty that the Old Pitt Street Bridge has to offer.

I have a few favorites on Instagram that I’ve never met before but love everything about them. I love where they go, what they say, and am always envious of their amateur photography skills and their spot-on filter selections (it’s so hard to choose sometimes!), so needless to say, I was beyond thrilled when I was introduced to Miss Jennifer at a recent Social Media meeting. It was so exciting to finally meet the face behind the French Quarter Inn’s (@fqicharlestonsc) wonderful Instagram feed. Take my word for it, it’s awesome. Not only is she simply wonderful in person, but she’s a Georgia grad (bonus points) and engaged (yay!). After hearing all of this good news, I told her it only made perfect sense for us to share her lovely Downtown engagement session from the talented crew at Richard Bell Photography! Luckily, she obliged and I’m super excited to welcome Jennifer and her fiancé Cory to A Lowcountry Wedding. A handful of us are lucky enough to live in the Lowcountry and as hard as we try not to, sometimes we take for granted the beautiful scenery that's in our backyard, but then a stunning engagement session from Charleston wedding photographers, Aaron and Jillian Photography comes along and BOOM, you fall in love all over again. It took place among the historic streets of Downtown Charleston and the combination of this adorable couple + the amazing, “frame-worthy” photography is almost too much to handle. Holy City Engagement {Grace + Ben}
I always love when we have the opportunity to share a session by Charleston wedding photographer, Mackenzie of The Click Chick Photography. As we dive head first into June, get ready to be showered with posts and posts of Lowcountry loveliness beginning with this wonderful Charleston wedding engagment from Dana Cubbage Wedding Photography. Things got started on the grounds of dreamy Boone Hall Plantation where Ashley + Greg enjoyed the poppy fields, Spanish moss and lovely coastal views. Shortly after, they headed Downtown as they wrapped things up in the heart of the Holy City.

Charleston Engagement {Steve + Jess}
When Sara Bee Photography sent over Jess + Steve’s engagement session, it was an immediate, ‘Yup, these are going up!’ Not only is the photography beautiful and the Charleston backdrop perfect, but these two are freaking adorable. Rain or shine, they just have the best time together. After hanging out Downtown for a bit, they packed up the show and headed down to Folly Beach with a few meaningful props. Steve was known for chomping on bubblegum as a baby and Jess was notorious for drinking Coke out of her baby bottle. These two are tying the knot this weekend, so leave ‘em some love!

When Stefanie of sMm Photography asked Noah + Sarah to pick an activity for their Charleston engagement session, the adorable twosome decided to pull out their tandem bike and head on over to the West Ashley Greenway, and they couldn't have picked a more picturesque backdrop! The old souls both have a casual, retro style that they incorporated into their outfits. Noah picked a retro, skinny tie, and Sarah decided to wear a modern dress with vintage jewelry. Thomas grew up and Charleston and quickly his love for the Holy City grew on his bride-to-be Jessica. Without question, they knew it was the perfect location for the engagement session. Charleston Engagement {Rebecca + Joseph}
If there is ever a time when I’m particularly happy that I’m a girl, it’s when it comes to the act of proposing. I am sooo glad that responsibility falls on the guys. Lord knows I would be a complete disaster: splotches, sweaty palms, shaky voice…oh, it would just be a mess. So, I’m always particularly impressed when I hear a guy has gone out of his way to surprise his soon-to-be fiance with a truly, thoughtful engagement. One of my favorite compliments to the perfect Lowcountry engagement is hiding a talented photographer (cue Kelly Sauer Photography) in the bushes to document the moment…and surprisingly, very few guys think to incorporate this key element, Joseph being one of them! Rebecca and Joseph met during their junior year of college and have always enjoyed traveling the world together. So, when Joseph suggested a trip to Charleston, she thought nothing of spending a few days in the Holy City. He treated her to a day at the spa (lucky gal!) and told her to get all dolled up for an intimate, formal dinner later that evening...to which she kindly obliged. They took a relaxing carriage ride before stopping at Waterfront Park to take in the scenery where Joseph popped the question with the fountain as the backdrop! Thanks to Kelly Sauer for capturing this darling Southern couple and their perfect Charleston engagement!
