Southern Weddings {Whitney + Trevor}

As we sit here and patiently await the lovely wintry mix that is making its way to the Lowcountry, I thought I'd share a few Southern weddings that will perfectly complement tonight's Big Bang Theory marathon and glass of wine!  First up is Whitney + Trevor's Texas-sized soiree at The Party Barn at the MD Resort.  It was filled with adorable rustic details, the perfect bouquets, vintage cigar boxes and homemade pies!  Whitney sported a gorgeous tea length gown with blue suede shoes.  Whitney is a huge fan of Elvis, so it only made sense! She really rocked the tea length wedding gown with beautiful lace details. And how amazing did Trevor look in is perfectly paisley button up? Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding Portraits {Julie}

I sure do love when I have to opportunity to share a little Sean Money + Elizabeth Fay.  These two are pretty much fabulous and, additionally, they go above and beyond for all of their Lowcountry brides.  Just ask their brides – they rave about the Charleston wedding photographer duo!   Their creative eyes produce some seriously romantic images with an editorial twist and Julie’s Lowndes Grove Plantation wedding portraits are no different.  How someone can take a flowing veil and a pair of antlers to turn a cloudy day into the perfect coastal backdrop is beyond me, but they sure pulled it off.

My sister tied the knot this October, and in the weeks leading up to the big day I had a lot of things on my mind: giving a meaningful (and adorable) Maid of Honor speech, making sure I was able to squeeze into our charming Anthropologie bridesmaids dresses and, most importantly, how I was going to wear my hair.  I scoured some of my fav blogs and scrolled through Pinterest for weeks looking for the perfect Southern wedding hairstyles to fit my sister’s effortless Georgia bash.  I settled on a curly half-up, half down rainfall braid, which looked fabulous if I do say so myself, but I thought it was only fair to share a few of my other favorite wedding hairstyles from across the blogosphere with my favorite Lowcountry ladies!  Check 'em out!

South Carolina Wedding Engagement {Leah + Jeff}

The minute I laid eyes on this South Carolina wedding engagement I KNEW that my ALW ladies had to have it.  It's charming and eye-catching and makes me wish I could Photoshop my husband and I right into Leah + Jeff's shoes.  Not because the engaged duo doesn't look adorable (because they do!) but because I love this shoot so much I wish I could frame each picture and hang them all around my house.  I'm obsessed...and who wouldn't be with all of those vibrant hot air balloons in the background!  So, I asked the photographer who captured the loveliness, the talented Jenna Marie Weddings, if she would be so kind as to let us share it with our readers in the premier issue of A Lowcountry Wedding and she was more than happy to oblige!  Catch a glimpse at few shots below and  if you're dying to see more...check out all the details in our complete digital edition of A Lowcountry Wedding Mag which you can purchase here!

Southern Weddings {Jaclyn} Asheville

We're off to celebrate the Holidays with our wonderful family and friends and while the weather here in Charleston has been a consistent 70-ish degrees for the past what feels like forever, I'm kind of dying for some cold weather to get a little more in the Christmas-y spirit, and if I could get some snow...well, that would just be about perfect.    So while I keep daydreaming about Southern Weddings and snow, y'all can check out Jillian's winter bridal session from Pasha Belman Photography.  It took place in Asheville, one of my favorite Southern cities, and it is so stinkin' beautiful I almost can't stand it.  So to all of our favorite ALW readers, we are so thankful for your support and we wish you the happiest of Holidays.  Here's to 2014!

Y'all, I've been dying to feature this glamorous Southern wedding but all this 70 degree weather just hadn't allowed for it!  But today I just couldn't take it anymore and decided the time had come to bless you with this gorgeous Atlanta bash from Scobey Photography.  Bride Jodi wore a stunning strapless gown she topped with a luxurious fur while the men wore classic tuxedos.  After a traditional church ceremony, guests made their way to beautiful Capital City Club where guests dined and danced the night away!

Nautical Wedding {Sue + Brian} The Boathouse

It's time to dive in to Southern Wedding Sunday and it's only fair to kick things off with this nautical wedding from our friend and Charleston Wedding Vendor Dana Cubbage!  I'm quite certain it will have you daydreaming about the coast...and Sue's stunning gown!  Thanks to Dana for sharing all the dets...

"Sue + Brian chose beautiful Beaufort, North Carolina for their destination wedding and it was the perfect place for them to celebrate their marriage with family + friends. In town early to get comfortable and relax before the big day, Sue + Brian had plenty of time to spend with everyone who traveled into town to celebrate with them. From sailing trips to beach days to a casual BBQ rehearsal dinner on the water, together with their friends + family, Sue + Brian had a week to remember leading up to their big day.

Rain threatened the area, but Mother Nature was surely looking out for them, as there was not a drop of rain on their wedding day. Everything about their day spoke to their amazing relationships with their family + friends. Sue's sister did everyone's hair + makeup as well as made custom necklaces for all of the bridesmaids. Brian's father acted as Best Man, while both of Sue's sisters served as bridesmaids. The relationship between them all was incredible to watch and so much fun to document

Sue's stunning Pronovias wedding gown stole the show and the bridesmaids looked amazing in their navy Monique Lhuillier dresses. Beautiful yellow + white flowers complimented the day's decor and the venue was simply decorated in navy, yellow + white hues. Their ceremony took place in a beautiful old church in Beaufort, which was filled with such charm. After the ceremony, the family + bridal party rode around town on a trolley for photos. It was a really fun time and everyone was thrilled to celebrate Sue + Brian's marriage!

Tear-inducing toasts, emotional parent dances, and the cutting of the cake - which was made by Sue's mom! - all helped round out this family-inspired celebration. It was a beautiful day that proved you don't have to spend a million bucks on decor and frills in order to have an amazing wedding. Family, friends, and genuine love reigned supreme for Sue + Brian, and I'm truly honored to have been chosen to document all of that for them!

Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding by Branch Design Studio

Who doesn’t love kicking their Monday morning off with a cheery Charleston Wedding!  With the help of that talented team over at Breeze, Michelle + Jeremy tied the knot at one of our favorite venues, Lowndes Grove Plantation, where they were married outdoors on the banks of the Ashley River.  Branch Design Studio whipped lovely arrangements with punches of pink and orange, while Fish treated the guests to their signature cuisine!  As always, we thank STUDIO 1250 Photography  for capturing all the lovely details!

Heritage Plantation Wedding {Robyn + Andy}

It totally slipped my mind that yesterday was Veterans’ Day (which might explain why I showed up at the County Treasurer’s Office to pay my car taxes and no one was there.  Whoopsies!).  Had I remembered, I absolutely would have shared Robyn + Andy’s quaint Heritage Plantation wedding from Dana Cubbage Wedding Photography but instead, we’ll just share it today! Since the lovely Dana Cubbage was there to capture all the details, it’s only fitting we let her tell their love story… ”Andy is in the Air Force and based in Louisiana, while Robyn lives and works in Missouri. These two have spent so much time apart, but their love for each other - and Robyn's 10 year old son, Drake - is evident. One of my absolute favorite moments of their day was immediately after the ceremony, Drake came up and hugged both Robyn + Andy.  It was an extremely special moment.

Robyn planned the entire wedding herself. She even did her own hair and created her own bouquet! Talk about talented! She chose Heritage Golf Club after seeing photos of it online. She absolutely fell in love with the location, the large oaks, the marina, and the Spanish Moss. Oh, the Spanish Moss! Although it rained in the morning, the skies cleared in time for their outdoor ceremony beneath an oak tree. We couldn't have asked for better weather, and the sunset at the marina was stunning. Robyn, Andy + their guests released wish lanterns from the dock at the end of the evening. Although the wind made it tricky, they were able to successfully launch a few. It was a beautiful sight and onlookers cheered as they took flight.”

Garden Wedding {Stephanie + Benjamin}

If you're in the mood for a dreamy garden wedding (and don't lie, I know you always are!), then you need to feast your eyes on this beauty captured by Pasha Belman Photography.  It's fairytale-style perfection.  While Stephanie + Benjamin's wedding didn't take place in the Lowcountry, or even in the South for that matter, this little ol' wedding blogger couldn't resist when all of this pin-able heaven rolled across her inbox.  But don't you worry my little Lowcountry ladies, the fabulous Pasha Belman is not only available for destination weddings, but he's also your guy if you're in need of a Myrtle Beach or Charleston wedding photographer.  I adore every detail of this Michigan affair from Stephanie's show-stopping Vera gown to this swoon-worthy venue.

Sea Island Wedding {Catherine + Josh}

You know I love when I get to take my ALW faithful for a little day trip down to my home state of Georgia, especially when we make a beeline right for the magical Sea Island.  With Events by Caroline behind the wedding wheel, Catherine + Josh tied the knot in elegant, outdoor ceremony overlooking the water, in what appears to be a Lowcountry afternoon that most gals dream of.  To celebrate, the couple joined their wedding guests for a tented evening under the stars where the gals at Garden on the Square created superbly Southern floral arrangements of hydrangeas and baby’s breath to grace the tabletops.  With a welcoming ocean breeze, Guest relaxed in a lovely outdoor lounge area and dined on a feast of Southern cuisine, including roasted quail, before kicking off their shoes and hopping on the dance floor to enjoy the sounds of The Swinging Medallions.  Thanks to the wonderful Donna Von Bruening for capturing this swoon-worthy Sea Island Wedding!  Oh, and yes, that is a real fish cake!

701 Whaley Wedding {Brennan + Travis}

Y’all, I am so thrilled to tell you guys we’re just weeks away from launching our first EVER A Lowcountry Wedding Lookbook….and it is awesome.  It’s been a complete labor of love and while it's taken a little longer to finish up than expected, it has been so much fun to create, super crazy and difficult, and, at times, has made me want to throw in the towel, but it’s finally in the last stages and I can’t wait until we get to share it.  There are pages and pages of AMAZING Lowcountry weddings from the most-sought after vendors along the Carolina coast and it will have you ooohhhhing and aaahhhing the whole way through!  In the meantime, we thought we would hold you over with this beauty from the Capitol City captured by Richard Ellis Photography at 701 Whaley.    We're in love with all of these beautiful pops of purple!

Savannah Westin Harbor Wedding {Carmen + Mack}

I doesn't happen too often, but we're dishing out a little Saturday morning wedding loveliness that we hope you love as much as we do!  Carmen + Mack tied the knot just South of Hilton Head in beautiful Savannah, Georgia at The Westin at the Savannah Harbor.  The couple took full advantage of their surroundings by having an outdoor ceremony overlooking the Riverfront.   Carmen stunned in a strapless lace gown from Priscilla of Boston while her maids rocked floor length gowns in shades of brown.  Kreative Kreations designed a beautiful reception with a Fall inspired color palette as Carmen + Mack celebrated the night away with their guests in the Westin's stunning ballroom.  Thanks to Mark Williams Studio for capturing all the lovely details!

I’ll tell you what, it’s been a crazy week over here!  It still can’t believe it’s already August.  This summer has just flown by!  As I head out to Dayton, Ohio this weekend for my sister’s bridal shower, I thought I’d share a little dose of what we all love the most…a lovely South Carolina wedding with a preppy green and navy color filled with adorable Southern wedding details.  This beauty took place in Aiken, South Carolina at Woodside Plantation Country Club and was shot by our friend Britt Croft Photography.  Happy Friday, y’all!

South Carolina Wedding {Sarah + Matt}

Sarah + Matt's beautiful Southern wedding took place in Salem, South Carolina at the Reserve at Lake Keowee and was, to say the least, stunning.   With the help of Katie Crain Weddings, the couple were able to bring their formal black and white color palette to life as their guests were treated to a lovely evening under the stars.  The long tables were dressed with burlap runners, tons of candlelight and small bud vases of white flowers.  Thanks to Liv Collins Photography for capturing all the details!
