Debolina Saha, an attoney, and Vin Narayanan, a consultant, came to Charleston to tie knot for a traditional 3-day Indian wedding with a southern flair. To play up the southern vibes, the couple opted to host their destination wedding ceremonies in the heart of Historic downtown Charleston at the renowned William Aiken House. With inspiration from our couple, and the hard work of our design team, our vision for an intimate wedding weekend was greeted with vibrant colors and mixed textures. The Mandap (traditional ceremony stage) was a show-stopping focal point for both ceremonies. Traditions such as an ushered ride down the aisle atop a small carriage (doli), to the ceremonial garb, multiple outfit changes and sitar music, were met with southern charm in an untraditional atmosphere. The seated dinner inside the home, adorned by tall centerpiece vases, deep velvety fabrics, and a touch of gold, created the perfect balance of Indian tradition in nontraditional Charleston. The intimate group and thoughtful setting made for a memorable night filled with laughter, enthusiastic dancing, and cultural expression! The innovative design elements made their wedding feel as if time stood still.
