THE PROPOSAL: Sarah Bosco & Joel Fickes, who met while in high school, dated long-distance for seven years while she studied at Clemson University and he at Miami University of Ohio. The couple finally reunited when Sarah took a job in Atlanta and Joel followed suit shortly after. It didn’t take long before Joel planned to make it forever, and popped the question while they enjoyed a gorgeous sunset on the dock.
THE VENUE: Not long after their engagement, Sarah stumbled upon a framed picture of The Beaufort Inn sign that she had drawn in 2010 which, coincidentally, was the same year she and Joel began dating. While she had never put much thought into where they would one day get married, at that moment she knew the Inn would be the ideal spot. The couple toured the venue and her instincts were confirmed—it was the perfect location for their late April affair.
THE LOOK: Sarah brought the romance in a Hayley Paige gown with a lace bodice and tulle skirt. Her hair, a slight departure from her everyday look, was pinned to one side and softly curled. Her eight bridesmaids wore long, one-shouldered gowns in a ight blue. hue Joel and his groomsmen continued the blue trend in navy suits with light blue bow ties.
THE ‘I DO’S’: Hoping not to miss out on one moment of the fun, the couple opted for an intimate first look and a few quiet moments together before the festivities began. “I wanted to be able to enjoy the reception without being gone for a large chunk of time,” recalls Sarah. The ceremony took place on the outside lawn of the Tabby Garden where 160 of their closest friends and family members looked on as they exchanged vows under a greenery-covered arch.
THE DESIGN: As Sarah started planning, she kept going back to the same light dusty blue color. “It just looked so calming, cool and classy,” remembers Sarah. So, she paired the pale shade with white and gold for an elegant coastal vibe and topped it off with accents of greenery. The reception design started with a fresh white tablescape—white chairs and table linens—which was accessorized with blue-patterned plates and clear, gold-rimmed chargers for a classic finish.
THE MENU: Not wanting to stray from their easygoing personalities, the couple veered from fancy foods, opting for tried and true favorites—tacos, sliders (burger, fried green tomato and fried chicken!), and flatbread pizzas. In addition to a full dessert spread of assorted cookies and brownies, guests munched on a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.
ADVICE: “Figure out what you want to spend more money on and the things you don’t really care too much about. This will help you save money in the long run!”
