It's a good Monday when we get to kick off the week with a Charleston wedding as elegant as Haley + Daniel's Governor Thomas Bennett House bash. With the help of Erin Horton of Ooh! Events, the couple married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the perfect November day. Haley stunned in a strapless gown, soft up-do and drop earrings and carried a classic bouquet of white flowers with accents of magnolia leaves from Fresh by Frampton's. Daniel and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos to complement the bridesmaids chic gold dresses. After a touching ceremony, the couple and their bridal party moseyed around the historic district to capture some frame-able portraits before enjoying the open-air reception. From Lauren Carnes: On a cool November day in Charleston, Haley & Daniel celebrated their destination wedding with the most classically elegant Southern fall design, and family and friends from all over. Haley, originally from Richmond, VA, attended the University of South Carolina for college. One weekend she visited Augusta, GA with her friend from school, and met Daniel. Very quickly, Haley began visiting Augusta more often... even without her friend... and a romance quickly blossomed. Haley & Daniel would get away to their "place" - Charleston - so when time came to choose the city for their wedding day, they knew without a doubt right from the start! They wanted to bring the classic Southern charm into every element of their destination wedding, beginning with the welcome bags, all the way to the Southern meal.
"Probably my favorite DYI was the welcome bags! We stamped every bag with a gold pineapple for Charleston hospitality! We filled each with different treats from Georgia where Daniel is from, Virginia where I'm from, and then South Carolina where we got married!" said Haley. And the setting in South Carolina couldn't have been more perfect. The Thomas Bennett House was the perfect backdrop for their magnolia inspired wedding full of greenery, the most stylish high-low bridesmaid's dresses, Haley's custom gown and the men's dapper tuxes. Paired with a reception designed by Ooh! Events full of endless dancing under twinkle lights, the day couldn't have been more classic.
As the day went on, Haley shared about her favorite memories of the day: "I especially loved all of the first looks! I kept my dress a surprise from my bridesmaids, dad and obviously Daniel! I wanted everyone to have the surprise reaction and I wasn't disappointed! It was so special because everyone was so excited to see it. Bridesmaids, dad and Daniel all cried... which made me cry tears of joy!" In fact, before Daniel even turned around to see his gorgeous bride, the tears began to well up in his eyes!
When asked her advice for brides planning now, Haley said: "Above all have fun and don't let it overwhelm you!!! Surround yourself with people who love to plan, know your vision and are A Type. Luckily my mom is a saint and planner all wrapped into one! She was a life saver during the whole planning process! A great coordinating team and Pinterest board are key!!"
And between Haley's vision, her mother's hard work, Ooh! Events' talent, and an incredible vendor team, I'd say their day was certainly the classic Southern beauty and memory they dreamed of!
