Rehearsal Dinner Oyster Roast at Mingo Point on Kiawah Island

Kiawah Island has always been my little happy place, so I always love when I have the opportunity to highlight a venue on the Island especially when the ladies of A Charleston Bride are behind the decor.  Bria & Cameron kicked off their destination wedding weekend with a rehearasl dinner oyster roast at Mingo Point.  Guests were treated to a Lowcountry evening under the stars as the dined on a whole roasted pig, hickory smoked barbecue chicken and bushels and bushels of fresh, local oysters!  We love the eye-catching floral arrangements in vibrant shades of blue, the couple's fur babies making a cameo on the drink stirrers and the cafe lights strung throughout to set the mood.  Thanks to Lindsay Collette Photography for capturing all the details!

Wedding Inspiration: Place Settings

With Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror and Christmas around the corner, it's that time of the year when every Southern Belle has their mind on how to arrange their family's holiday tablescape and joyous place settings.  Am I right?  I always love to see a good tablescape - an eye catching centerpieces, gorgeous place setting, swoon-worthy paper products, candles, runners, glassware -the details just don't stop.  With the hopes of inspiring your tablescape, whether it be for your holiday dinner table or your wedding reception, I've rounded up a few that have stopped me in my tracks and I hope they do the same for you!

Carolina Yacht Club Wedding by sMm Photography

We love when couples weave Lowcountry details throughout their decor and we're particularly  smitten with Nick & Elaine's Carolina Yacht Club wedding.  With the help of Ashley from Fraiche Event Design, the couple incorporate oyster shells and palmetto roses throughout their Fall affair.  Oyster shell wreaths highlighted the wreaths on the doors of the Church of Holy Communion while the palmetto roses popped up in the bouquets and centerpieces.  Since Nick is a firefighter, the couple decided on using the "Big John" Firetruck as their mode of transportation and not only was it the perfect getaway vehicle, but the pictures are perfection!  Thanks to sMm photography for capturing all the details!

From Priscilla Thomas Photography: "Leslie and Dan held a chic summer soiree by the water at Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, SC. Their wedding inspiration came from their global adventures together. Dan even proposed while the two were living in Abu Dhabi. This international travel motif was highlighted on each table by a bottle of champagne with a custom label featuring an abroad location they have traveled to. Soft corals and sea foam blue accents adorned tabletops and bridal party attire. Floral arrangements incorporated corals and pinks through roses and paired these with white hydrangea and succulents. Their ceremony was at the historic Belin United Methodist Church. Afterwards, they joined their guests at Kimbels at Wachesaw Plantation, where a formal dinner included shrimp and grits or chicken cordon blue. With live jams from Charleston Groove Factory and sweet libations of sweat tea Firefly vodka and lemonade, the celebration moved to the dance floor. As the night came to a close, they ran through a sparkler sendoff and then drove away in a classic Bentley."

I regularly find myself be-bopping around the Lowcountry as I hit up to the top bridal events along the coast. Quite frequently, I'll ask my husband if he wants to tag-a-long and over the years, there's only one event that regularly find its way on his calendar -The NotWedding.  There's always music and dancing, great bites and champagne and loads of inspiration from the Lowcountry's top wedding creatives, and, most importantly, dudes love it.  Well, ladies and gentlemen, the crew is headed back to the Carolinas and is making a pit stop in Charleston on December 7th at the Historic Rice Mill Building, so in honor of the big bash, we're sharing The NotWedding Save the Date captured by the amazing Becky Williamson. Charleston Rehearsal Dinner by Clay Austin Photography

While we all love a good Lowcountry wedding, it's always fun to share  a bridal shower, bachelorette party, or in today's case - a lovely Charleston Rehearsal Dinner!  It can be easy to get consumed by the wedding planning duties but let's not forget that in most cases your wedding day is really a wedding weekend :)  This beauty took place at a private residence in the Lowcountry and was captured by Clay Austin Photography.  The crew at Out of Garden designed a chic evening of greys and neutrals while Ooh! Events handled the rentals - don't you just love those natural X-back chairs!?  Hamby Catering served up a delicious menu of Southern cuisine while Squeeze On-site kept the drinks a-flowin'.  Guests kicked off the weekend on the dance floor to the sounds of Quiana Parler & Friends!

Even with the impending storms on the horizon, Bride Stephanie was still up for a memorable afternoon in the Holy City with her wonderful photographer, Dana Cubbage. Grey Wedding at Oldfield Club by Britt Croft Photography

Elegant Beach Wedding on Folly Beach by Molly Joseph Photography

Y'all, get  grab a cup of coffee and comfy because you're about to spend the rest of your Monday morning pinning this beautiful Folly Beach wedding.  Polly and Devin tied the knot this September just outside of Charleston at a wonderful beach house - the Robinini by the Sea.  Polly looked quite stunning in the perfect lace fit and flare gown while Devin looked dapper in a classic tuxedo.  The couple married in an intimate oceanside ceremony before celebrating the night away with their guests.  We love how this couple incorporated their pooch into their big day and all of Polly's DIY details.  A big thank you to Molly Joseph Photography for sharing all the loveliness!

Charleston Engagement by The Click Chick Photography

Carolina Yacht Club Wedding by amelia + dan photography

Carol & Chris tied the knot over Memorial Day weekend at St. James Episcopal Church on James Island where Bride Carol donned a lovely strapless gown as her maids wore a charming shade of orange..  Before celebrating with their guests at their Carolina Yacht Club wedding, the newlyweds hopped in the back of a 1947 Lincoln Continental Convertible from Lowcountry Valet & Shuttle for a memorable trip Downtown.  Chris's uncle's band, 17 South, kept the dance floor rocking throughout the night.  To Carol's surprise, Chris joined his friends on stage to serenade his new bride.  The evening came to a close when the couple departed under a tunnel of sparklers and hopped aboard a getaway boat as they headed off into the Charleston Harbor beneath the full moon.  Thanks to amelia + dan photography for capturing all the details!

September Oaks Vineyard Wedding by The Happy Bloom

It seems like we officially ushered in the Fall season this weekend, what with the cold  front and time change, and while I'm pretty excited for cooler temps and scarves, I'll always be a summer girl at heart.  And for those of you who share my same need for long summer days and pastel color palettes, I know you'll enjoy this September Oaks Vineyard wedding in Ridgeland, South Carolina captured by The Happy Bloom.  Bride Bevin stunned in an Elaya Vaughn gown that she paired with mint heels and a darling Twigs & Honey headpiece.  She carried an amazing bouquet of peonies, garden roses and dahlias designed by The Flower Shop Bluffton.  Josh donned a navy suit as he waited for his bride under a majestic oak tree.  Prior to their wedding day, the couple followed Southern wedding tradition and buried a bottle of Bourbon at their ceremony site so it wouldn't rain  on their big day!  After they said 'I do', the couple dug up the bottle before celebrating (and enjoying macaroons!) with their guests.
