Legare Waring House Wedding by Ooh! Events + Red Shutter Studio

Happy Monday to all of our lovelies! We’re in the midst of cranking out our first print magazine, so Brides + Vendors, keep those submissions coming! You know I always love a Legare Waring House wedding. The romantic Spanish moss, the grand oak trees and the gorgeous house as the backdrop. I mean, you just can't go wrong, especially when the ladies of Ooh! Events are the masterminds behind the planning and decor. Bride Carolyn wore an amazing lace gown with her hair swept softly off of her face thanks to the crew at Stella Nova. Her bridesmaids wore dresses in shades of blush. The ceremony took place outdoors under the majestic oak trees and the aisle was lined with rustic lanterns and mason jars filled with flowers in shades of white and green. Palmetto Strings was on hand to perform throughout the ceremony and cocktail hour. Guests enjoyed an evening under the Lowcountry stars thanks to a beautiful clear tent. Farm tables with burlap runners and mason jar centerpieces set the stage for a delicious meal from Fresh Foods Market Catering. Polished Tabletop provided a slew of their signature pieces while Squeeze On Site kept the drinks flowing from the bar. Thanks to Charleston Groove Factory for keeping the celebration going on the dance floor and Red Shutter Studios for capturing all of the memories.

South Carolina Aquarium Wedding from Richard Bell Photography

We sure do love South Carolina Aquarium weddings!   So much so that we were lucky enough to feature it in our most recent issue.  You may remember our gorgeous Southern Sparkle shoot we shared in our premier issue of A Lowcountry Wedding Magazine.  It was outside on the Deck with gorgeous views of the Charleston Harbor.  Pretty breathtaking if you ask me!  Well, this gorgeous ocean-inspired wedding from Ashley Nicole Events and Richard Bell Photography incorporated everything we love about the South Carolina Aquarium.  A stunning evening ceremony overlooking the Harbor and the Cooper River Bridge, a festive octopus cake and whimsical fish-filled aquariums at every turn. Charleston Weddings, Hilton Head Weddings, Myrtle Beach Weddings, Savannah Weddings

From the Bride: "Brian and I love aquariums, sea life and conservation, so the aquarium was a no-brainer choice for us. Every place we visit, we make a point to visit the aquariums too- it's our tradition. Plus, my sister works as the PR director for the Aquarium, so she really sold us on the venue! We wanted to incorporate aspects of ourselves and our loves into our wedding and reception, which is a mix of art deco and the ocean. Interesting combo, I know! My dress is a Jenny Packham and screamed art deco to me. I paired it with a vintage Eduardian pin from the 1920's which is being made into a pendant. Brian and his groomsmen (and one groomswoman!) wore a Vineyard Vines cummerbund set with their tuxes (and a flower accent for the groomswoman) that featured little blue crabs (Brian's favorite!) on a coral background. Brian's boutonniere is held by an electroplated crab claw in silver. The bridesmaids wore a one-shouldered After Six gown in jade that has ruching that went hand-in-hand with my dress. Our colors were jade, coral and a deep blue...mirroring the colors of Mother Ocean. We wanted nature to play a large part in our celebration, so we decided to wed under the stars on the Aquarium's veranda. In addition to our love of fish, we also love Phish, the band. We incorporated small, subtle tokens featuring Phish throughout, including our first dance (Show of Life), lyrics from Phish songs on each table and our favors: donations to both the waterwheel foundation (Phish's charity that gives back to various programs throughout the nation) and the sea turtle hospital (of the SC aquarium)"

Planters Inn Wedding {Katrina + Paul} Riverland Studios

I count my lucky wedding blogging stars each and every day for the opportunity to share such a special time in a couple's life.  I love every moment of it.  The details, the back story and the emotional shots...all of it, and Katrina + Paul's Planters Inn wedding delivered every aspect of it.  Thanks to Riverland Studios for capturing all the moments! charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings

Tell us a little bit about how you met your husband...
We met through friends.  We were actually at the same place with our friends multiple times but never actually spoke for several months.  We were eventually introduced and started dating shortly there after.

How did he propose?
We were living apart for 2 years,  I was living in Texas and he was still in Charleston.  We would take weekend trips and meet eachother at Virginia Highlands in Atlanta.  We adored the area and went back a couple of times.  On the last trip there he took me back to our favorite restuarant, which we took a trip to every visit we made, and proposed.  It was our first night of the trip so we had the rest of the weekend to celebrate together!  He proposed in November and we were married the following September.  10 months.  We dated for 6 years.

What made you choose your venue?  What elements drew you to it?
We chose the Planters Inn and Peninsula Grill because it quaint and the perfect size for an intimate wedding.  We wanted to be surrounded by our closest family and friends but still feel like we had a full house.  The Planters Inn was perfect!   We liked the idea of getting married in a courtyard and then having an onsite reception to make it easy for our guests.  I liked how I could keep the decorations simple since the location was already so charming.

How many guests attended?
80
Color Palette: Plum, cream and black

charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings  Tell us about the details!  Did any have special meaning?  What was your favorite? We love to be tourists in our own town and have always been drawn to spending our day or night dates wandering Market Street.  We loved the idea of getting married in the same area that we always pick for our date nights!  We enjoy being able to go right back to our wedding spot whenever we want. charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddingscharleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddingscharleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddingscharleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings

Something old: My great grandmother's engagement diamond was set into the center of a gold cross on a necklace which I carried on my flowers.
Something new: My dress!
Something borrowed: I borrowed perfume from my Maid of Honor, Mi Corazon by Oscar de la Renta
Something blue:  I had a small blue bow sewn onto the inside of my dress.  The bottom side of my heels were also blue.

Tell us a little bit about your menu....
The reception was catered by Peninsula Grill and the food was absolutely amazing!  They did such a great job!  We chose to do a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception.  We chose this because one of our favorite dinners is just to have appeziters.  A few of our menu items were Baed brie en croute with raspberry-toasted almond jam, Yellowfin tuna tartare with blac sesame crisp, tomato & olive salad with fresh mozzarella on a crostini and shaved beef tenderloin on crispy crouton with asiago cheese.  There was a grilled garden vegetable station.  We also had three chef stations with Roast Bershire Pork Loin with rosemary Gravy, Lowcountry crabcakes and roasted red pepper, spinach, garlic and lemon penne pasta.

What's your favorite picture from your wedding and why?
By far, my favorite picture is one where we are standing at the entry way of the market.  There is one where we are kissing and another where we are looking at eachother.  Like I said earlier,  our absolute favorites dates involve market street.  Now everytime we go down there it has even more meaning to us and brings back great memories. There is also a picture of Paul and I crossing Market street with my maid of honor holding the back of my dress that is one of my favorites as well.  We were walking back from the Daughter's of Confederacy building and It has the Planters Inn in the background.

Out of the entire day, what was the most memorable moment?
It was after we left our reception, we walked down market street together and it was our first moment alone!  We were so happy and could not stop laughing because of how excited we were to be married!

Most valuable piece of advice you'd give to a newly engaged bride:
Make your decisions based upon what means the most to the two of you together!  Relax and have fun!  The day will come and go so fast.  Paul and I still look back and can't believe how much fun we had together that day.

Island House Wedding {Ashley + Drew}

Ashley & Drew were married in the beautiful First Scots Presbyterian church in downtown Charleston. The day’s celebrations continued at The Island House on John’s Island under twinkling strands of lights hung from their airy reception tent.  Upon their arrival, guests were asked to sign river rocks as a nod to the bride and groom’s first anniversary. We're loving how the Lowcountry views were complimented by the modern outdoor décor. The bride chose a deep navy and soft ivory color scheme for her flowers designed by The Flower Cottage, guests’ favors, and table settings....and that gown, that gown from Gown Boutique of Charleston is stunning! An exit under a shower of rice made for a perfect ending to their enchanting Charleston wedding night.  Thanks to Riverland Studios for capturing all the details! charleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddingscharleston weddings, lowcountry weddings

Charleston Weddings {Nikki + Shane} Francis Marion Hotel

You know we love some Charleston weddings, especially when killer photographers are involved.  This past April, the Lowcountry was graced with a visit from the talented destination duo of Kate Botwinski Photography.  The husband and wife team traveled all the way to the Holy City to capture the fabulous Spring wedding of Nikki + Shane.   The ladies spent the morning getting all dolled up thanks to the crew at Stella Nova and the magical brushes of Andrew C. Petersen.  Nikki looked flawless in her stunning Monique Lhullier gown while her husband-to-be looked dapper in his dress blues. They kicked off the perfect Saturday afternoon with a traditional Catholic ceremony at the grand Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.  After saying 'I do', the couple hopped in a carriage for a gorgeous photo session at The Battery & White Point Gardens with their bridal party.  The evening continued with a jaw-dropping reception at Downtown's lavish Francis Marion Hotel where the newlyweds revealed a showstopping first dance that got the party started! a lowcountry wedding blog featuring charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings
