From the photographer: "I had the honor of capturing the beautiful wedding day of Stephen & Morgan at the Kaminski House Museum in Georgetown, SC. A day filled with beautiful sunshine was quickly replaced with overcast skies and unfortunately, downpours of rain. As with all of my couples, my heart breaks when rain puts a damper on what they spent months planning, but especially so when the ceremony is to be outdoors. Even though the rain isn’t ideal, the show must go on, and Morgan & Stephen’s day turned out nothing short of beautiful. Great friends and loving family brought the sunshine with their unwavering support and proving to be flexible. These same people treated me so kindly and were the best of sports when it came to making the most of portraits in the rain."

"From start to finish the day was filled with beauty. Dusty blue hues offered the perfect compliment to the already blue adorned Kaminski House. Vintage porcelain vases overflowing with hydrangeas and bouquets of magnolia proved to be the perfect southern accents. Morgan was stunning in her Casablanca Bridal gown that she embellished with a beautiful sash. The boys looked dapper in their gray suits with accompanying black necktie. Baxter’s, a fun spot just down the street from the venue, provided the perfect backdrop for their portraits. In fact, timeless vintage touches were present throughout the day. From Morgan’s beautiful pink shoes to her gorgeous and incredibly unique vintage engagement ring, the details couldn’t have been more perfect.

Speaking of perfect, one of my favorite stories about Morgan and Stephen involved the events surrounding the purchasing of Morgan’s vintage ring. Having seen this ring that she adored, Stephen knew it was the perfect choice for her and contacted the store only to learn that is had already been sold. As a one of a kind find, he knew that presenting Morgan with this ring was worth any obstacle. After providing Stephen with the necessary information, he was able to find the owners and convince them to sell it to him. ( I still can’t believe this) As we say, the rest is history!

Stephen’s dad officiated the ceremony and did a wonderful job. Guests stayed dry under the tent, with the exception of the few souls that braved the rain with me out on the lawn. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a wonderful meal as they were serenaded by the sounds of the band. My personal favorite, Grandpa Jack (the pictures don’t do him justice), gave the dance floor a good workout and kept the reception light and fun.

Later in the evening, Stephen, Morgan, Joe (director and wonderful help, I might add) and I left out of the reception to attempt a few couple’s portraits in the rain. I watched as these newlyweds braved the storm and made the most of it. About halfway through, and my very favorite moment, Morgan let go of her train and just tossed it out onto the very soaked grass. Not only had she let go, but she looked so happy. When Morgan didn’t want to walk in the rain, Stephen’s presence encouraged her to play in the puddles. That my friends, is love. I’m so happy that these two found one another. We all deserve someone that shows up on the rainy days of our lives—and greets us with an umbrella.
