THE PROPOSAL: Candace Veight & Kevin Albertini, who met while in school at the University of South Carolina, were enjoying a chartered fishing excursion in the Bahamas with a group of friends when their boat made a seemingly unexpected stop at Rose Island. To Candace’s surprise, Kevin dropped to one knee and popped the question. Afterward, they spent the rest of the evening celebrating over cocktails and savoring their freshly caught bounty.
THE VENUE: Knowing they wanted to get married in South Carolina, the couple began searching for wedding venues on Hilton Head—an island Kevin’s family had been vacationing on for years. But it wasn’t until they received an email chock-full of gorgeous images from The Omni Hilton Head that they picked the winner. “We decided to just go for it based on how beautiful it was in the pictures,” remembers Candace. “We didn’t even see it in person beforehand!”
THE LOOK: A friend turned Candace on to a BHLDN warehouse sale (awesome, right?), where she took two of her bridesmaids to check it out. After waiting in line for two hours just to get through the doors, the dress grabbing frenzy began! Her dream find was a flowing, sheath Catherine Deane gown with champagne-colored lace. Candace customized the look by adding delicate sleeves. To complement the beachy vibe, bridesmaids donned tropical-inspired Show Me Your Mumu dresses in a “Kauai Kisses” print. The men continued the laid-back feel with tan suits, suspenders, and emerald ties.
THE CEREMONY: After a sweet first look to calm their nerves, the couple said I DO under the beachfront pavilion of The Omni Shorehouse where Ivory + Beau created a “tropical meets boho” backdrop full of greenery and bright, island blooms. They swapped personalized love letters in front of the crowd—a ritual they’ve carried throughout their relationship—leaving not a dry eye in the crowd.
THE AESTHETIC: Hoping for a casual night packed with fun and love, Candace created a mood board to set the tone for their shoreside affair. She highlighted her obsession of tropical décor and bohemian flair with textured blooms, lush greenery, tropical leaves, and baby pineapples (our favorites!).
THE FOOD: To ensure their guests wouldn’t leave hungry, the couple planned for a “ridiculous amount of food”. Cocktail hour started the smörgåsbord with a full-fledged oyster bar followed by coastal-inspired stations, including shrimp & grits. To round out the jam-packed menu, guests dined on donuts and mini banana puddings for dessert.
