HOW THEY MET: We met at the gym when Dave helped sign me up for a new membership. He conveniently had his hair cut by my twin sister so that he could find out more about me. With increased interest in getting to know me, he took me out for a date where we spent the whole day on the beach and have been inseparable since.

THE PROPOSAL: He proposed on August 29th, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL as we watched hurricane Erica light up the sky on our candle-lit balcony overlooking the ocean.

THE GOWN: After a failed attempt at dress shopping in Charleston with my mom sister and aunt  I decide to start looking online since I knew the fit I liked, shortly after I found a dress on Instagram. It was the dress I always envisioned and definitely the one that stuck out the most. The next step was to plan a girls trip to Raleigh, NC to track down my dress! Together with my twin sister, Erin, and my bridesmaid, Ashley,  we made it to The Coastal Knot. I tried on all the amazing dresses by the designer Made With Love. It came down to a tough decision between two very different styles. They both had low backs but one was silk with buttons down the back and the other was lace, which was what I first envisioned. So that was it, I went with the dress that caught my eye and loved from the moment I saw it!

HAIR & MAKEUP: I actually do wedding up-do’s as part of my profession. I have seen it all but for my hair I choose to keep it simple — half-up, half-down with some loose curls, highlighted with baby’s breath and a delicate rose. My makeup was very natural, just enough to make my eyes pop. I was going for a light and fresh look.

BRIDESMAIDS ATTIRE: The dresses were different hues of light pink. The maid of honor’s dress was purchased from Show Me Your Mumu and my other girls got their's from Azazie.

GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: Dave wore a darker gray suit and his groomsmen wore a lighter  gray color from men’s wearhouse. He made custom Nike’s for his groomsmen and himself.

FIRST LOOK: We chose to do a first look. We wanted to have that special moment between just the two of us and it helped calm some nerves. It was the perfect moment. Having the opportunity to get some pictures done before the ceremony was an added bonus as well!

THE AESTHETIC: I wanted to keep everything neutral with blushes, creams and greenery. I also knew I wanted it to be outdoors, being that there is so much beauty in nature. The Live Oak Trees and Spanish Moss make a stunning background when you are planning a wedding on a budget. It was also perfect for the rustic, country feel I was looking for. It was the perfect main focus, there wasn’t much more I needed to do.

THE SWEETS: Describe your cake and or sweets: Dessert is my favorite and I definitely went all out here! We had a mini chocolate and peanut butter cake for Dave and myself to cut. Then for the guests we did mini cupcakes in amazing flavors, Nutella with vanilla , carrot cake with cream cheese, chocolate with peanut butter, and Oreo with chocolate and truffles. There were also candy jars of skittles, peppermint patties, chocolate covered almonds and assorted chocolates placed around the cupcakes.

ADVICE: The day goes so fast! Take a moment away from all your guests, just you and your groom and really soak it in! My favorite part of the day was taking pictures dancing under the glistening mossy oak trees at sunset, talking about how awesome the day was. Also, there’s so much fun things on Pinterest  is easy to want to do it all remind yourself that the day is for you and your family and friends to celebrate not stress so if you find yourself getting stressed maybe step back  from all the little details and remember what your wedding is really about.
